The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act touts $500 billion in new spending over the next five years. The Farm Bureau-supported bill provides funding for watershed programs available through the NRCS, which aim to help communities recover from the impacts of natural resources. Programs include:
- Watershed and Flood Prevention Operations Program;
- Watershed Rehabilitation Program;
- Emergency Watershed Protection Program.
Funding will be available for both new and existing projects. To help prepare eligible sponsors, NRCS is hosting public webinars on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7. No registration is required. People interested in attending either webinar should simply click the appropriate link:
Questions will be answered via live chat during the open forum at the end of the training.
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act includes $110 billion in funding for U.S. roads and bridges, $65 billion for broadband, and $17.3 billion for ports and inland waterways. Pennsylvania, specifically, is expected to receive $11.3 billion for federal-aid highway apportioned programs and $1.6 billion for bridge replacement and repairs over five years. Pennsylvania will also receive a minimum allocation of $100 million to help provide broadband coverage across the state.
