PFB Praises Beef Revitalization Plan, Cautions Against Import Proposal

Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman commented today on USDA’s beef revitalization plan.

“Pennsylvania Farm Bureau applauds the plan released by USDA Secretary Rollins, DOI Secretary Burgum, HHS Secretary Kennedy, and Small Business Administrator Loeffler, as it provides the long-awaited stability and reform our beef industry needs. This plan directly supports some of our key priorities: cutting red tape, reforming wildlife management, promoting American agriculture, enhancing data collection, and expanding processing opportunities. Especially during this challenging time for our farm economy, implementing the practical and common-sense solutions in this plan is a necessity for the continued success of our farmers.

“Farmers understand their business requires risk, but we ask the Administration to be careful about importing beef to artificially suppress prices. This is a policy-driven risk that we can choose to avoid and should not be imposed on domestic producers. We strongly urge the Administration to focus on the successful implementation of this plan. The action items it contains will directly support the American beef farmer, ultimately leading to increased cattle inventory and lower grocery store prices—all while maintaining profitability for the producer.

“We appreciate the hard work and dedication invested in this plan and are eager to work collaboratively with the departments, agencies, and the White House to ensure its successful implementation.”
