Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman commented today on the Senate passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
“Pennsylvania Farm Bureau commends the U.S. Senate for passing the reconciliation package. This legislation is crucial for farmers and ranchers, who are the backbone of America’s food supply chain. The legislation offers the security farmers and ranchers need through improved farm safety net programs that align with today’s agricultural economy and by maintaining key tax provisions, both of which will directly benefit their families.
“Farmers are facing declining prices and high costs, which has led to significant family farm losses and consolidation. The bill’s provisions, including increased reference prices and investments in conservation, research, and trade, are essential, especially given that it’s been seven years since the last farm bill. These measures will help farmers withstand economic challenges and continue their operations.
“Additionally, important tax benefits will enable farmers to manage expenses, adopt new technologies, and facilitate generational transfers of family farms. Pennsylvania Farm Bureau now urges the House to pass the bill and send it to the President for his signature, ensuring continued food security for American families.”
