Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Hoffman commented today on the Make America Healthy Again Commission’s “Make Our Children Healthy Again Strategy.”
“Farmers and ranchers are committed to helping Americans live healthier lives by providing safe, nutritious, and affordable food. They believe that a healthy diet begins on the farm and are glad the report recognizes their important role in the food supply chain.
“Farmers support the recommendation to focus on American-grown fruits, vegetables, and meat, and to reintroduce whole milk in school meals. They believe this can help set kids up for a lifetime of healthy eating habits. They also welcome recommendations to reduce regulations and prioritize voluntary conservation, which will help farmers innovate and meet consumer demand.
“Overall, farmers are pleased that the commission met with them and listened to their concerns. They look forward to working with the commission and policymakers to ensure these new recommendations are implemented effectively to improve health outcomes and keep America’s pantries stocked.”
