Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Commends Move to Provide Clear WOTUS Guidelines

Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman commented on the Environmental Protection Agency’s announcement to begin efforts to clarify how EPA will implement the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule to comply with the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Sackett V. EPA.

“Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) greatly appreciates EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s commitment to providing a clear and commonsense definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS) for agriculture. Farmers are continually implementing conservation practices on their farm, in a voluntary manner, to improve water quality.

“The current definition from the Biden Administration was determined by the Supreme Court in Sackett to be an overreach of the waters under federal jurisdiction and incredibly vague. Unfortunately, EPA and the Corps have not taken the time to fully abide by the Supreme Court’s decision.

“Therefore, we are excited to see Administrator Zeldin’s announcement that EPA will be drafting and publishing a revised WOTUS definition that hopefully will finally provide clarity for farmers. PFB has and will continue to work closely with American Farm Bureau Federation to ensure our members voice are being heard in DC as this new definition is being drafted.”
