Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal Advancing in Congress

The U.S. Senate is considering bipartisan legislation authorizing transportation and infrastructure spending over the next five years.

The plan includes $550 billion in new spending, including on surface transportation infrastructure and broadband expansion.

In addition to authorizing infrastructure spending, the bill exempts livestock and insect haulers from Hours of Service regulations within a 150 air-mile radius of their final destination, which Farm Bureau supports.

The measure allocates $110 billion for road and bridge projects, $66 billion for passenger and freight rail, and $65 billion for broadband expansion. The bill also authorizes funding for safety, public transportation, airports, ports and waterways, power and grid infrastructure, resiliency, electric and low-carbon school busses and ferries, and more.

Farm Bureau supports the legislation. View AFBF’s full statement here.
