Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Statement on Immigration Enforcement on Farms

Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman commented today on reports that immigration enforcement focus will resume on farms and ranches.

“As the state’s largest general agriculture organization, representing over 25,000 members, we are deeply concerned by reports that the Administration is rescinding guidance that provided crucial clarity and stability for our agricultural workforce. This move could have devastating consequences for our nation’s food security.

“Without a stable, dependable workforce, our fields will go unplanted, our crops unharvested, and our livestock uncared for. The dedicated men and women who work on our farms alongside our farmers are not just employees; they are the bedrock of our food supply chain. Any disruption to their ability to work threatens the availability and affordability of food for every American family.

“We urge Congress to recognize the critical role farm workers play and prioritize comprehensive H-2A visa reform. The current system is cumbersome, expensive, and fails to meet the year-round needs of modern agriculture. We need a flexible, efficient program that ensures farmers can access the labor they need, while also providing fair and dignified conditions for workers. It’s time to put partisanship aside and secure our food system.”
