As farmers face record-high diesel costs, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Tommy Nagle applauded the executive order signed by President Donald Trump to ease limits on the use of tax-exempt dyed diesel fuel to give farmers some relief.
“We thank President Trump for recognizing that high diesel fuel costs directly impact what happens on the farm and the cost of food that families put on dinner tables across the nation. Allowing dyed diesel fuel to be used on the road will bring necessary relief for farmers because every cent per gallon matters when you have a fleet of grain trucks or need to haul cattle hundreds of miles.
“This executive order comes at a crucial time as farmers work to complete harvest across the country. The federal highway diesel tax is currently more than 24 cents per gallon, so it’s important that farmers can use tax-exempt diesel more broadly during harvest. We appreciate President Trump for listening to farmers and acting.”
