Paul Hartman is employed as a herdsman on his family dairy farm, Scattered Acres Inc., located in Berks County. The family’s herd consists of 2,000 Registered Holstein cows and heifers. The farm grows forages and grain on approximately 1,200 acres of cropland it owns and rents.

The owners and operators of the farm are currently the eighth and ninth generation of the Hartman family to farm in Berks County. Hartman and his wife Yvonne were owners of the family farm for almost 30 years with two of Paul’s four brothers. They sold their shares to his two brother’s families in 2021.

Hartman serves as Berks County Farm Bureaus Vice President and has held numerous positions on the county board since 2008. Hartman previously served as membership chairman or co-chairman for 14 years until 2022. Hartman has served on the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Dairy and Farm Policy Committee since 2012 and now chairs the committee. He also currently sits on American Farm Bureau Federation’s Farm Policy Committee.

Paul previously served as the Chairman of the Oley Township Planning Commission for several years until he moved in 2020. Paul serves on the Board of Directors of his Penn State University agricultural fraternity, Delta Theta Sigma. He graduated in 1991 from Penn State with a bachelor’s in food science.

Hartman and his wife, Yvonne, have been married for more than 30 years and have two children: Jacob and Sarah. Jacob is engaged to Susan Blissett and is planning a wedding in 2024. The Hartmans regularly attend Fleetwood Bible Church.
