PFB President Chris Hoffman commented today on the threat of a potential government shutdown.
“On behalf of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, we urgently call on the Senate to advance a measure to keep the federal government operational and provide for more time to complete the appropriations process. The farm economy is already at a crisis point, and a government shutdown would make it exponentially harder for our farmers to feed the nation. Keeping the government open not only ensures essential services from agencies like the USDA and EPA continue but also allows the critical work on Farm Bill 2.0 to proceed. Therefore, we urge Senate Republicans and Democrats to come together to prevent a catastrophic shutdown at 12:01 AM tomorrow.â€
