Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman commented on the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture releasing its version of the farm bill, the Farm, Food and Security Act of 2026.
“On behalf of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Chairman Thompson, the members of the House Agriculture Committee, and the dedicated staff for their diligent work on the Farm Bill 2.0 text.
The current state of the farm economy is navigating a period of significant volatility, making a modernized Farm Bill a vital necessity rather than a mere preference. Our farmers are consistently facing unprecedented market shifts and rising input costs; seeing this reality recognized within the current text is a much-needed and long-overdue development. For too long, our producers have been forced to manage present-day challenges under an outdated policy framework.
Following the significant investments in the One, Big Beautiful Bill, it is time to cross the finish line and deliver a bipartisan, modernized Farm Bill that secures the future of Pennsylvania agriculture. We will be analyzing the draft closely ahead of the upcoming markup and hope to see Congress move swiftly.”
