Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman commented on United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins’ announcement of the “One Farmer, One File” initiative.
“For years, farmers have been asking all levels of government to help them deal with the ever-expanding volume of documentation required to access services and programs that are critical to our nation’s security and prosperity. We are very pleased that under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Rollins, this burden promises to become significantly lighter with the inauguration of the “One Farmer, One File” initiative.
Pennsylvania farmers rely on the relationships they have established with the professionals at USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Risk Management Agency (RMA), who work with agricultural producers to ensure full, timely access to disaster relief, conservation, economic assistance and other programs. Helping them do their jobs more efficiently and effectively benefits producers as well by eliminating delays in required approvals, for in a global agricultural marketplace, time is as scarce and valued a commodity as any other farm input. We are also encouraged by the Trump Administration’s release of its ‘Deregulatory Agenda for American Agriculture and Consumers,’ which promises additional relief from costly regulatory policies that have slowed the growth of American agriculture for too long.
Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members are excited about the future of agriculture and the progress that the industry, working with its federal partners, has made to date in improving the regulatory environment in which it operates. We look forward to accelerating that progress in the years to come through initiatives such as “One Farmer, One File.”
