HERSHEY– Chanin Mountz of Fulton County Farm Bureau, was honored with the Outstanding Woman in Agriculture Award at Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s (PFB) 74th Annual Meeting on Sunday, Nov. 17th in Hershey. Mountz was honored during the Women’s Leadership Committee Luncheon.
The Outstanding Woman in Agriculture Award is an annual award that recognizes a woman who demonstrates exceptional leadership and makes significant contributions to the agricultural community.
Mountz, who serves as her county’s administrative secretary and chairs Fulton County Farm Bureau’s Women’s Leadership Committee, has been a cornerstone of agricultural development and community service in Fulton County. Mountz, owns and operates Pineloft Landscape and Garden Center, a thriving business that has grown over 18 years from a small operation selling stone and mulch, into a multi-faceted enterprise with three greenhouses.
“If I had to tell my younger self what I’d be doing today, I would’ve never envisioned this,” Mountz said. “Owning greenhouses and being so deeply involved in the agricultural community has been an incredible learning experience.”
In her leadership role, Mountz has championed initiatives that benefit both Farm Bureau members and the wider community. This year, she organized the inclusion of the Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation’s GIANT Immersion Lab at the Fulton County Fair and is currently planning a manure pit training for local volunteer firefighters to enhance safety and skills. Her passion for community service extends beyond agriculture, evidenced by her efforts to coordinate events like blood drives and various other outreach activities.
Mountz attributes her success to the collective support of her community.
“Having people around you who share your mindset and are there as a sounding board on tough days is invaluable,” Mountz said. “We all play a role in this larger agricultural puzzle.“Being named the Outstanding Woman in Agriculture for Pennsylvania is a tremendous honor. What we do in Fulton County is just part of our daily lives—serving the community and supporting agriculture. To be recognized for this is truly humbling.”
Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s Outstanding Woman in Agriculture Award celebrates individuals who embody the values of leadership, community service, and agricultural excellence. Mountz’s contributions exemplify these ideals, inspiring others to engage in and support Pennsylvania’s agricultural community.
