HERSHEY, Pa. – The Susquehanna County Farm Bureau won the prestigious “Premier County Award,” at Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s 71st Annual Meeting in Hershey. The award is the highest honor bestowed upon a county Farm Bureau among Pennsylvania’s 54 county Farm Bureaus.

Susquehanna County Farm Bureau was also recognized for earning the Overall Achievement Award for county Farm Bureaus with 401 or more members. The award salutes a county Farm Bureau for its outstanding performance in the six program areas evaluated by Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB).

“Whether they are organizing legislative farm tours, attending our state legislative conference and meeting with elected officials, hosting children and members of their local communities on educational farm tours or participating in a variety of other activities, our farmer volunteers do an amazing job of representing agriculture through the leadership of our county Farm Bureaus,” said PFB President Rick Ebert. “Over the past year, the Susquehanna County Farm Bureau demonstrated the highest level of excellence in a wide variety of program areas to earn the Farm Bureau Premier County Award.”

Also in the award category of 401 or more farmer members, Butler County Farm Bureau finished in second place for the Overall Achievement Award.

In the category of county Farm Bureaus with up to 400 farmer members, Columbia County Farm Bureau won first place for the Overall Achievement Award. Centre County Farm Bureau walked away with second place for Overall Achievement.

Hundreds of farmers from across the state attended Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s 71st Annual Meeting at the Hershey Lodge from November 15-17, to set policy for the statewide organization on issues affecting farm and rural families.
