Job Summary/Communications Specialist:
Assist in the day-to-day communications efforts of PFB and County Farm Bureaus. Implement a comprehensive communications strategy to increase PFB’s brand awareness through print and digital media channels. This is an exempt, salaried position
Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Communications Specialist:
- Assist in drafting, editing and proofreading press releases, newsletters, social media posts and articles for the Positively Pennsylvania membership magazine
- Support the daily management of PFB’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) including scheduling posts and engaging with followers.
- Assist with developing and implementing social media campaigns to support events, membership drives and advocacy efforts and create social media toolkits to be utilized by County Farm Bureaus.
- Attend American Farm Bureau Federation’s Annual Convention, as well as the yearly communications conference to assist in live coverage and improve networking opportunities with peers from other states.
- Assist in the production of social media content, including infographics, photo galleries, videos and reels
- Take photos and capture video at events for use in PFB publications and on PFB social media accounts
- Act as secondary spokesperson for the organization responding to contacts with media inquiries.
- Function as staff writer for PFB’s publication and website.
- Develop promotion and advertising efforts to build brand awareness.
- Create and assist in the management of advertising campaigns.
- Assist with and manage email marketing through group email outreach via Constant Contact or other vendor; maintain database and methods of contact.
- Advocate on behalf of the membership/organization online via multiple platforms.
- Assist in the planning of Rural Road Safety Week and supervision for state and county Farm Bureaus
- Assist in the production of podcasts for public release, as needed.
- Assist with scripts, rehearsals, and other functions for PFB’s Annual Meeting
Education-Qualifications-Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field of study
- Strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to effectively promote a brand, ideas, etc.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, analytic reporting
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience with online email marketing tools or related software, and maintaining email lists
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere
- Familiarity with agriculture
Other Requirements:
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs
- Working during non-traditional office hours will at times be required
TELECOMMUTE OPTION: Primarily a Camp Hill office position with up to 20% potential to work from home with Manager approval. Some travel throughout Pennsylvania (with possible overnight stays) to attend meetings, Farm Bureau events, seminars, and other related events.
