Exemption from state sales tax for “timbering” operations:
House Bill 1138 (Prime Sponsor – Matt Gabler):
- House Bill 1138 amends the state sales tax law to exempt purchases of equipment and materials that are used directly in commercial production and harvesting of trees by tree farm operations, or are used directly in commercial harvesting of trees from lands of others (including in-field processing, creation of access pathways and forest rejuvenation activities).
- House Bill 1138 was passed by the House, and is currently in the Senate Finance Committee.
Pennsylvania Farm Bureau urges the Senate to support and work for prompt passage of House Bill 1138 to provide to commercial tree farm and commercial timbering businesses a similar exemption from state sales as is currently provided to farming.
Financial incentives for harvesting coyotes:
House Bill 1534 (Prime Sponsor – Michael Peifer):
- House Bill 1534 amends the state Game and Wildlife Code to establish a program to provide payments for each coyote successfully harvested. The program would be financed through annual commitments of Game Fund revenues.
- House Bill 1534 was passed by the House, and is currently in the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee.
Pennsylvania Farm Bureau urges Senators on the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee to promptly move House Bill 1534 from Committee for a vote by the full Senate.
