Young and Beginning Farmers Should Gain More Access to Land Thanks to New Tax Credit Law
TylerShaw IMG 6254 600x400Young farmer Tyler Shaw of Dauphin County believes he will benefit from a new tax credit that could provide him more opportunities to rent farmland.

(Camp Hill) – Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) members are excited about legislation signed into law by Governor Wolf that would create new opportunities for young and beginning farmers to lease or buy land by offering a tax incentive to landowners.

Senate Bill 478, which was sponsored by Senator Elder Vogel, will provide a 10% credit on the gross rental price with a maximum credit of $7,000 per year to a landowner who rents property to a qualified beginning farmer, or a one-time tax credit totaling 5% of the sales price of land with a maximum credit of $32,000.
