David Nogan, with his brother Ben and father Jeff, own and operate Applewood Farm and Nogan Supply. Their operation resides in the northeast corner of Lackawanna county. Upon graduating from Penn State, David returned to the operation full time. On the farm they primarily run Angus Cows on the rolling hills of NEPA; while the fields are used for hay, corn and soybeans. The crops are harvested and feed to cattle in a feedyard or sold as a cash crop. The cattle are primarily sold direct to Cargill, Wyalusing or JBS, Souderton in Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth Chandler District 3 (Berks, Chester/Delaware, Montgomery)
Elizabeth Chandler

Elizabeth Chandler is District 3’s YAP rep. Ellie also serves as Chester/Delaware County’s YAP chair. She grew up in Southern Chester County in the town of West Grove and went on to continue her education at The Pennsylvania State University. Elizabeth earned her degree in Agribusiness Management & Spanish while simultaneously working at the Penn State Dairy and marketing seed for DuPont Pioneer at regional seed company, Doebler’s. While in college Elizabeth also served as vice president of Collegiate Farm Bureau and enjoyed lobbying in both Washington D.C. and Harrisburg on behalf of farmers in our state. Ellie is passionate about policy and draws on her experience to push for changes that benefit all types of production agriculture. Elizabeth currently works as a loan officer for MidAtlantic Farm Credit servicing Southeastern PA. She enjoys working with farmers to find financial solutions that will help them grow their businesses and reach their goals. In her free time, Ellie enjoys shooting, hiking, and training service dogs for a local organization called Canine Partners for Life.

Raleigh and Blakslee Masters live and work in the beautiful Sugarloaf Valley of Luzerne County. Raleigh spends his days on the 2,000 acre grain & potato farm that has been owned and operated by his wife’s family for four generations. Raleigh & Blakslee are proud to call the farm ‘home’ and are even prouder to raise their two sons on the land and take part in the transition of it to another generation. In addition to farming, Blakslee runs a small horse boarding business and the couple operate two distinct locations on the property for AirBNB rentals which helps to introduce many guests over the course of the year to a day in the life of a farm family. Raleigh is passionate about many things, including precision agriculture, welding, and river kayaking. Blakslee is, of course, passionate about horses, environmental stewardship and fostering great relationships with people near and far.

Courtney grew up on a 200 cow dairy farm in Loganton, Pennsylvania. By growing up on her farm, Courtney has a strong passion for Agriculture. She continued her education at the Pennsylvania State University, receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Agribusiness Management. She currently works for Murray Securus, an insurance agency based in Lancaster – where her focus is on Farm and Agribusiness insurance sales. Her goal in the YAP Program is to help young farmers better themselves through education and leadership programs.

Paige works full time on her family's dairy farm, Walnutdale Farms. They milk 56 Holsteins and a couple of her show cows. She handles everything from milking, to calves, to fieldwork, although her father refers to her as the herd manager. When needed in maple season, She helps with the maple syrup production from their 1,500 vacuum taps. She also works part time with Allied Milk Producers' Cooperative. Her title is Accounts Manager, but with a staff of two she's often doing more than just financials! If she's not on the farm or with Allied, you can find her out doing something! Mountain biking, snowmobiling, or at cow shows with her cattle, her 4-H kids cattle, or helping another string are good possibilities!

Simon is a 4th generation family member of Vale Wood Farms, comprising of a 200 dairy cow herd along with a processing plant to produce and home deliver a full line of dairy products to the local area.  He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Food Science.  Applying his degree, Simon is working full-time in the dairy processing facility with an emphasis on food safety.

Josh and Allison Beichner are from Shippenville, Clarion County. Josh farms with his father, uncle and cousin on the family’s 4th generation dairy farm that was established in 1909. Prior to returning home in the spring of 2016, Josh was employed by Case New Holland as a Combine Field Test Engineer where he spent 6 years working with emerging technology and prototype machines throughout the Mid-West, East Coast, Canada and Australia. Allison is originally from Mercer County and works for Hy-Line North America, a poultry genetic company that produces day old chicks for egg farmers. Allison is an avid equine enthusiast that is active with the PA 4-H Horse Program, as well as the America Quarter Horse Association. In their free time, the couple enjoys camping with their Welsh Corgi, Annie.

Zach and Brittany Speer are co-chairs of District 15 and the YAP Butler County Program. Zach was raised on his family’s dairy farm in northern Butler County. Brittany was raised on her family’s cash crop farm in southern Butler County. Zach currently works full time at Brittany’s family farm: Har-Lo Farms Inc. Brittany is involved with the family farm by providing marketing advice and maintaining social media platforms for the farm. Brittany works full time off of the farm but helps during the harvest season. Zach hopes to own his own herd of long horn cattle. Brittany would like to have a micro pig as a pet. Zach and Brittany have the same values and love of agriculture. They hope to start a family someday and pass along their passion for agriculture.

Drew Manko, District 16 Rep. (Washington, Westmoreland, Fayette, Greene, Allegheny)! Drew also serves as Washington County’s YAP chair and on the Washington county board of directors. Drew resides on his family’s PA century farm in Eighty Four, Washington county. He raises several breeds of rare and heritage breed livestock including 11 sheep breeds, 2 breeds of hogs, American Milking Devon cattle, and poultry. The farm’s main commodity is wool by selling it to a niche market and at their yarn and fiber shop in Washington, PA. Finally, Drew manages his own business of selling processed meat to local restaurants and businesses. Drew has a passion of advocating to support local businesses and agriculture.
