We will be offering educational activities for children of all ages at annual meeting. Children will have fun while engaging in interactive, hands-on activities. Please use the “Individual and Family Annual Meeting Registration Form” to registering your child/children. You may also purchase children’s meals on that form.

PA Friends of Ag Foundation Event Lab

Grades K – 2
1:15 – 2:00 p.m.

Registration Required

Stop by and visit the Foundation’s newest ag lab addition, the “event lab”. Students can engage with the many different learning stations such as soil health, meet the farmer videos, tractor ride-along, healthy food choices, food quiz, and more. They may also complete the Foundation’s Farmers Market Fun activity which allows students to recall what they learned at the healthy food station and “fill their plate” with the necessary nutrients they need while encouraging them to eat a variety of local produce.

PA Friends of Ag Foundation Event Lab

Grades 3 – 5
3:30 – 4:45 p.m.

Registration Required

Stop by and visit the Foundation’s newest ag lab addition, the “event lab”.  Students can engage with the many different learning stations on this lab. Stations include soil health, meet the farmer videos, tractor ride-along, healthy food choices, food quiz, and more. Once the students complete all the stations on the event lab, they will receive materials to take with them to create a growing system where they can observe how gravity affects a plant as it is rotated during the germination process.

My Family’s Soybean Farm

Located at the PA Friends of Ag Foundation Booth, Exhibit Hall, open from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Registration not required

Children can stop by the Foundation’s booth to listen to a book reading of My Family’s Soybean Farm and engage in a conversation about farming and the products we use everyday thanks to our farmers. Each child will receive a hidden picture handout and a pack of crayons made from soybeans.

The Day the Farmers Quit – Ag Lit Book Preview

Located at the PA Friends of Ag Foundation Booth, Exhibit Hall, open from 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

See a preview of our 2023 Ag Literacy Week Book of the Year, “The Day the Farmers Quit”. This book brings awareness to children about the importance of farmers in their local communities.  When the famers decide to take a vacation, this young boy realizes just how important farmers are to his everyday life. See what he does to get the farmers to come back from vacation!

Eating Rainbows: Fun with Fruits and Vegetables

Presenter: Lori Klein, Penn State Extension

In this activity-based session, children will identify a variety of fruits and vegetables and learn the reasons why we need to eat more servings of fruits and vegetables each day.  They will also learn why color is an important component in fruit and vegetable choices, and prepare a fruit kabob snack!

Everything you Need to Know About Potatoes

Presenters: Nathan Tallman, PA Cooperative Potato Growers and Lela Reichart, Sterman Masser, Inc.

Registration required

Learn how potatoes are planted, how they grow, and are harvested.  After they are harvested, where do they go?  Come learn all about the wonderful complex carbohydrate…the potato!
