Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) is holding our three-day Annual Meeting November 18-20, 2019 at the Hershey Lodge, Hershey, PA. We hope that you will consider being a part of it.

About PFB and our 69th Annual Meeting

Pennsylvania Farm Bureau is the state’s largest farm organization, representing farms of every size and commodity across Pennsylvania. Perhaps the most important three days on our calendar, this conference will be attended by more than 600 people from all corners of the state. It’s at this gathering of farm leaders where Voting Delegates debate the policy positions of the organization and set PFB’s agenda for the coming year.

This meeting also offers several information seminars for members and attendees (hence this call for presentations) and a Health Fair, which includes free flu shots along with a number of valuable health screenings. In addition, PFB will recognize county organizations, Farm Bureau members and agricultural leaders with awards during meal functions.

Call for Presentations

PFB is seeking proposals from potential presenters for several educational sessions during our 69th Annual Meeting. Presentation proposals should have broad appeal and pertain – or be related to one of the following topics:
• Agricultural Economic Trends and Forecasts
• Agricultural Education
• Animal Health
• Commodity Promotion & Marketing
• Communicating about Controversial Subjects
• Family Wellness
• Farm and Food Blogging and/or Social Media Initiatives
• Farm Business Planning
• Farm Management, Finance and Marketing
• Farm Safety
• Farm-to Table Promotions
• Invasive Species
• Leadership Development
• New and Emerging Farm Technologies
• Rural Entrepreneurship
• Soil, Water and Air Quality Improvement Practices

Our Mutual Commitment
PFB will provide complimentary conference registration, one (1) meal ticket per presenter for the day of the presentation and offer speakers valuable professional exposure. Presenters’ biographies, photos and session descriptions will be viewable on PFB’s Annual Meeting webpage.

PFB expects presenters to:
• Arrange their own transportation and lodging (if necessary)
• Acknowledge they are available to speak during any timeframe at the conference and as such will not request a change to the session timeframe assigned if selected.
• Offer a thoughtful and interactive 60 minute session (with 10 additional minutes for questions) on selected and agreed-upon topic.
• Identify and secure commitment from a replacement presenter on the same topic if they need to cancel.
• Work closely with event coordinator, Kim Flegal, before the conference and meet all deadlines.
• Agree to the audio-recording of presentation (for pod-cast distribution) and being photographed and/or video recorded by PFB photographers.
• Recognize that a conference presentation is an opportunity to share information and is not a showcase for promotion of business, practice, service or product.

Honoraria
PFB has a tradition of using our conference sessions as a platform for information, inspiration and innovation. We look for contributors who are willing to share their expertise without expectation of payment.

Audio-Visual Equipment and Handouts
Presenters planning to use audio-visual equipment must identify their needs in the presentation proposal. PFB will provide screens, projectors and Windows 10 laptop for sessions requiring such technology. Each presenter should make their materials “electronic friendly” so materials can be available to distribute electronically.  We ask that you send us the PowerPoint file or a PDF version so that it can be tested and pre-loaded on the laptop before arriving in Hershey.  (See deadlines below) Presenters are responsible for producing any handouts they would like to make available in hard copy during session.

• Presenters bio, picture and all session summaries finalized by Monday, August 5, 2019
