Luke Brubaker owned and operated a 1,000-cow dairy farm and more than 1,000-acre agribusiness company for more than 30 years before transitioning the farm to his two sons. He also served more than 20 years on the Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board, including six years as chairman.
Brubaker has been a longtime member of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s state and national legislative committees. He currently chairs Lancaster County Farm Bureau’s Local Affairs Committee and was a past chair of the state Ag Labor and Safety Committee. He is currently the State NER chair and also serves as animal care coordinator and environmental coordinator for Lancaster County and serves as region environmental coordinator chair.
Brubaker served as chairman of Lancaster Farm Service Agency from 1996 to 2004. His local government and community activities have included serving as a township supervisor and on the township planning commission, co-chairing the Blue Ribbon Commission for Agriculture of Lancaster County, and serving on the boards of numerous community and agricultural organizations. He was among a handful of farmers invited to meet with President Donald Trump on agricultural issues in 2017 and has traveled abroad to promote agriculture, dairy and trade issues in Morocco, Germany, Russia, the Ukraine, Belarus, Nicaragua, Bolivia, and Vietnam.
Brubaker is an active member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church. He and his farm have received numerous awards and recognition, including Mid-Atlantic Master Farmer Award, the George C. Delp Award, Innovative Dairy Farmer of the Year Award, Top Producer of the Year Award, Chesapeake Bay Alliance Environmental Leadership Award, and the Dairy Stakeholder Pacesetter Award.
